Same Pigment: Street Fashion
Images by Prutha Raithatha
I had been following Jaime [? .. I'm sorry I didn't make notes that evening cause I was totally spaced out] around at the festival and then finally found her dancing in the crowd and just asked everyone around her to move so I could take a picture..lol... Love her simple yet edgy style. Love the shoes and the comfy turban.
BTW, adorable person!!
PS: The light was terrible by then, but I still love her so much I had to share.

Richard is a fab artist who's works I have seen and known of. I recognized him because he is the husband of an artist I know and when I thought about it some more I remembered that I had been to their place for a New Year's Eve party a few years ago in Brooklyn. He also works with PS1 museum and was at the venue on saturday during the rave I last posted.
I love his eclectic mix of everything. The Indian men's tunic [Kurta] with shorts and colorful socks + sneakers, all make for a super creative outfit to me. Someone from the fashion industry told him about a week ago that these kurtas in the same color are going to in next spring. Some trend forecasting people. Just for you.
Thanks again for posing Richard.
DSM's on Twitter and Facebook if you'd like to keep in touch.
Also did I tell you guys that DSM was included in the Directory for Top Indian blogs [even though it's based out of NYC..lol.. but it's by an Indian so it counts] along side some insanely cool blogs like The Times of India and Shobhaa De's blog? It's in the fashion section. I'm stoked!! Thanks whoever did this :). I love you. And I love you guys for reading and supporting DSM. Seriously!!!

Alteast Try Not To Use Those Dreadful Words: Personal Fashion
Images by NURBS
Dress: Vintage; Shoes: Ninewest [like 6 yrs old]
I know I ask for it when I wear a Prabal Gurung-ish outfit like this one. I can totally hear David of the Nyanzi Report screaming “Color Blocking, Color blocking!!” in my ear all the way from London. So I am just going to put on my headphones and pretend like I don’t care. Ah-ha.
A few weeks ago I went on a hike to Mt. Beacon [upsate NY] with a bunch of friends. After the hike was over [and I was still alive], my friend Jess and I found a few cool stores in the area. Ofcourse vintage stores in small towns are so much more interesting and CHEAPER than in the city where even vintage/ thrifted stuff costs as much or more than retail. Found this fantastic silk dress with 80's padded shoulders and pockets and another jacket for under $30 total and I think it’s a total steal!!
Hope everyone had a happy weekend!! I sure did. More pics of the happy weekend to follow during the week.
PS: This shoot is ironic cause I really do not remember the last time I went into a grocery store to actually shop for groceries. It was kinda a weird feeling to go into one for a shoot today and pretend like I understand what veggies to buy...lol..

Meet and Greet: Street Fashion
Images by Prutha Raithatha
I took these pics a long time ago and I don't have the details about this kid anymore. All I remember is that we both were wearing Sam Edelman boots and that's how we got talking. He made those tights himself and was an amateur designer he said. Hope I bump into him again sometime.

Rain Drops and Trash Cans: Personal Fashion
Images by Upasana Jain
Saree: Bawaree [Mumbai]; Leather Vest: All Saints; Hat: Kelly Christy; Belt worn as bracelet: Zara; Shoes: Ashish for Topshop
This entire shoot had everything going against it. Amongst 8 other things [I counted] the biggest things were RAIN and lack of light. But Upasna made it work and how? BTW, that chair next to the garbage can was totally soaked in the rain when we found it and I sat on it!! ewwhh. But it was a perfect spontaneous setting and I had to use it. My sari, undies plus butt are at the dry cleaners right now for a massive disinfectant cleaning.
Wearing a sari I fell in love with on my last trip to India. I dig the idea of wearing it with a leather studded punk rock-ish vest and leopard wedges. The flattop just fit right for what I wanted to achieve with the look and don’t you agree that this is a much edgier way to wear a conventional sari? Now if only the stupid Mohawk worked [I wanted to style my hair in a Mohawk and for those who follow DSM on facebook and twitter know what a disaster that ended up being..lol]. Maybe when I actually get hired to style a shoot someday I can attempt it again. In the mean while this is way beyond perfection already. Thanks Upasna!!!
PS: You guys should totally follow Upasana’s photography on her facebook page. It’s absolutely worth it.

Just Fashion: Street Fashion
Images by Prutha Raithatha
Bracelet: Iradj Moini; Shirt: J.Crew; Belt: Ezabel Aranduy
If I hear the words "Color Blocking" one more time I shall shoot myself in the face. And yes I know some cocky person is going to mention it in the comments section just cause they think they are being funny. Well you're not and you really need to stop wearing a diaper. This post is not a trend spotting. It is just want it is. Fashion well done.
So, on my way back from work one evening, while crossing the street, I spotted Ezabel Aranduy crossing the street next to me. I wasn't shooting at the moment but had my camera on me [thank god] and had to ask her for a picture. Her look totally reminds me of Diane Keaton's in some form. Strong, masculine-feminine yet super elegant. The belt is her own design. The cuff is a piece of art just like all Iradj Moini jewelry is.

STOP WORK. NEVER WORK.: Personal Fashion
Images by NURBS
Dress: Alice and Olivia; Blue/ Silver Shoes: Steve Madden; Gold shoes: Topshop
Since I end up wearing my big gold shoes a lot on my shoots I decided that it was time I showed you guys that I do own a lot of other pairs too. I just don’t wear them that much [or at all] cause when I like some things, I get obsessed with them and keep wearing them over and over again till I get sick of it or till something better comes along. Lol.
I love that backdrop on the shutters. It’s perfectly befitting my current state of mind where I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with my utterly scheduled life. But the dress makes me happy. It is insanely pretty and fun to wear as long as the wind does not blow.
I hope everyone in the US had a wonderful Independence Day holiday. To the rest, I hope you had a fab weekend.
