Rang Barse: Not a Fashion Post!!

Images by Shraddha Borawake and Vijay Bala using iPhone

Holi is an Indian festival of colors that I believe is supposed to signify the onset of spring, celebrated after a full moon. Basically on the day of Holi people get together and play with colors. It’s the funnest festival in the world hands down. Everyone gets a free pass at playing with anyone they see on the street. It’s like a massive paint-ball event without the painful paint-ball attacks.

There was an event in NYC with music and Holi colors and performances which a bunch of my friends and I went to. And it ended up being a fab day of crazy Holi playing and dancing for 3 hours on the street and meeting some fab new people. That’s exactly what Holi is all about and I am still excited about the events of the day. Yippiee!!

PS: If you haven’t already noticed, this is not a fashion post. I was wearing the worse possible clothes in my wardrobe with a free I <3 NYC sweat shirt so I can throw them away after I am done with playing with the colors. Yes I have some tacky clothes too.

PPS: I made my donation to the Japan relief efforts to the American Red Cross. Hoping you guys will too. Let's do the best we can people.

  2. Love the colours. it's sort of strange to see people in jackets on holi, not a sight you'd see in India, the summer's practically here already on holi ! :)

  22. Hahha my friends used to do this! They'd have it up at Columbia University and they'd come back to ur dorm covered from head to toe and no matter how hard they tried to wash everything off they'd still have some somewhere it was hysterical. looks like fun! i never joined the fear of trying to get that stuff off and not being able to made me stay away lol
