Getting a haircut is so much pressure I tell you. And finding your ideal hairdresser is as difficult as finding a perfect bra. It comes around rarely and after years and years of experimentation. In India I had found my soulmate hairdresser in Geeta from Agile Fingers. I always went to her and just sat down in her chair and let her do whatever she wanted on my hair. We experimented like crazy. Now being in NYC for the past 6 years, I think I have finally found my NYC hairdresser soul mate. Heather from Cutler salon in Soho.
Went to her for my cut last weekend and instead of just blow-drying my hair before I left she did this crazy hairdo for me. I love it. And what can I say about this fantastic sexy vintage dress. I am not kidding but I was behaving like a rock star the whole night while shooting in this dress. The dress and the hair just gave me that attitude. Love the nose ring too. I really wish someone would hire me to experiment for magazine styling. I have too many ideas in my head and this is not even the crust of it. Some day I say…some day J
Had a relaxed weekend and watched FIGHT CLUB last night. Has anyone seen it? Do you guys like that movie? I was going “ewhh” too many times during the movie to appreciate the concept. Am still not sure if I liked it or not?
I LOVED 'Fight Club'... but then I have read the book [by Chuck Palanuik] and... I understand the physical need to get down and dirty this way. Hard to explain. I've been boxing/doing some form of martial art since I was a kid so, you know, I love that shit.
ReplyDeleteYour hair is wild!!! I'm happy you've found your soul-hairstylist! I don't have one but that's simply because I don't do much with my hair... went to a wedding yesterday and I think I may have been the only woman who wasn't salon coiffed!!! hell. I hadn't even brushed my hair after the quick blow-dry!!
I LOVE THIS ENTIRE LOOK!!!! Please tell me that you painted the town gold looking like this!!! You look WONDERFUL!! So very Studio 54... and the nose ring is genius. I too wear my indian jewelry (particularly my tikkas) with western styling.
it's so important to have the right hairstylist...I found one a couple of yrs back in Delhi, and I absolutely love that guy. I never give him any ideas, he experiments with my hair, and i always like the end...also you look stunning, I echo Dusk here, I love the jewelry with western clothes!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing, WOW WOW WOW!!! Truly phenomenal!!!
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Jemina

ReplyDeleteLove how the 'red soles' are so deliciously worn out! Oh and thanks for rubbing in your access to awesome vintage stores once in a while. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteWow! Epic nose jewelry. Cute dress. I've never seen Fight Club, went to a writers meeting where a 'Fight Club' producer/writer was guest speaker...he seemed pretty pumped up about it and explained why it didn't work. He blamed it on Murdoch. Hehe!
ReplyDeleteHej,
ReplyDeletethis time you proved the old saying of "Not all that glitters is gold" is wrong.
I suppose this "chain to the nose" thing comes from your supposed indian heritage?
very dramatic this whole photo scenery
ReplyDeletei must say.. 1st one was my fave and very powerful

loving the big hair and 80s bling dress! prutha how do you carry off EVERYTHING so well EVERY TIME??? how how how???? and yeah Fight Club is awesome, dark and visceral. read Chuck palahnuik's book and other books by him, it totally pushed boundaries on decency, logic, sanity, like takes you out of the limit in order for you to find your humanity. he's amazing!
ReplyDeleteDarling, that nose ring makes me want jump right into my screen yank it out of your nose and never give it back to you. I like it *that* much. You carry it off so well with the outfit. The looks an absolutely winner. Go sequins! =)
